Appearing or disappearing?

May 31, 2008 at 3:21 am (MarCom & Technology) ()

One of my long-distance mentors, Garr Reynolds, posts on his trip to the U.S. and quotes the legendary jazz drummer, Art Blakey “If you aren’t appearing, you’re disappearing.”

Thinking of my industry, I can’t imagine the burden this puts on new, small or investor-controlled companies that can’t “appear” as much as they need.  My company began when personal computers didn’t exist and always has someone on the road or in a tradeshow or event.  I’m glad we’re always “appearing.”

I’m too busy with projects at work or I’d be in San Fran to see Garr discuss his new book. He will be presenting at Microsoft and Slideshare.
