Penn and a lesson on proselytizing

Penn (of Penn & Teller fame) has never been shy about being an atheist and his comments about religion have often alarmed me but if this video doesn’t encourage you…

“I’m sane, I’m not crazy.”
That rocks.

WOW! Wow. And all I can say is “Wow!” What about that?
Totally convicting. Penn (and Teller) are such incredibly gifted performers.
Brother, whoever you were, God bless you for just being real with Penn and giving him a bible. I so very much would like to have Penn on our team. He’s such an intelligent and gifted dude, and it seems like he’s also a big-hearted guy under all the armor. I have no idea what made him such a convinced atheist, but I certainly agree that religion (the works/legalism kind) has done a lot of harm.

However — Jesus has done no harm. And in the end what we are called to is a relationship, not a religion. Luther rightly said there were only two religions in the world — the Gospel and works. I pray God enables Penn to see the difference and reject what deserves rejecting, then embrace what deserves embracing. Penn, if you see this, go to marshillchurch.com, where the gospel is faithfully explained and the air is regularly let out of the religion balloon. You’ll dig it.
